What to expect at Physical Therapy and Hand Therapy?

Schedule your Appointments - It's Easy

  • Timely scheduling is important. Just call us and we will do your intake over the phone!

  • Insurance Verification: Our staff will verify your insurance and our participation in your specific insurance plan. We only schedule patients that have insurance plans we are contracted "in-network". So no unexpected "big bills" following your care.

  • Insurance Benefits Educationclearly explained BEFORE treatment so you are not surprised by your amount of financial responsibility when you arrive for your first visit. If your portion of financial responsibility is a hardship, IDEAL due its paperless business process, has the ability to setup a personal payment plan to fit your budget.

First Visit - Initial Evaluation

Patient Registration Forms:

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to complete your new patient registration forms. When you arrive at the center, you will be greeted by our clinical assistant who will review the intake forms with you prior to commencement of your evaluation to explain anything you might have questions on and to take any related payment due.

What to Wear:

  • We usually recommend that patients wear looser-fitting, comfortable clothing and shoes. The therapist will be moving you to do a thorough evaluation of your injury.

Meet the Therapist:

  • Your Therapist will bring you into the clinic and evaluate your injury or condition.

  • You and your therapist will discuss your injury or condition and develop mutually agreed upon treatment goals for you.

  • Typically you will receive some treatment at the evaluation.

Home Exercise Programs

  • Before the end of that first visit the therapist will educate and train you on your individualized home exercise program.

Regularly Scheduled Appointments

  • At each visit, you will work with a member of our clinical team, who will instruct and supervise your care. As you reach specific treatment goals, you will progress to new levels, treatments and exercises.

  • At the end of each visit, your therapist will answer any questions you may have and review any changes to your home exercise program.

  • Most likely, you will have more than one therapy appointment a week. While this may present a temporary interruption to your schedule, your long-term gains will offset any inconvenience.

  • Remember if you are in pain, you should come to therapy and talk to your therapist, when your pain is gone you should still come to therapy until they discharge you. The goal is to get you permanently better! If you self-discharge too early your pain may return and require you to start the rehabilitation process again.

Home Exercise Programs

  • You may be provided with a home exercise program that complements your plan of care. The home program is an important part of the healing process and will assist you in achieving your goals.

Communication

  • Your therapist will maintain regular contact with your doctor, surgeon and/or case manager to ensure timely updates on your progress.
